A Band of Rogues is an independent feature film written and directed by Tim Morgan and edited by John Schroter in 2011 over nights, weekends and some vacation days in the final deadline push while maintaining a full-time editor position at BGEA. It was filmed in the early days of DSLR cinematography on a Canon 5D and 7D. Tim self-funded the movie for roughly $20,000 by selling a vintage Toyota Land Cruiser. The entire movie was filmed on location in Mendoza, Argentina where Tim and their small cast and crew used their charm and good looks to borrow buses, RVs, vacation homes, and local actors to help bring their creative vision to life.
The movie is a meandering, musically-driven, slow build – in the most beautiful and charming way. And the music throughout is fantastic – much of it is performed live and on location. Matthew Morgan wrote and sang the songs under his band name, Stella Stagecoach.

After making the rounds and doing quite well at various film festivals, it sadly remained unseen by the general public for nearly a decade! But in 2020, A Band of Rogues finally reached a distribution deal with Indie Rights! It is available for rent or purchase on Amazon Prime, or for free with ads on YouTube! But we highly recommend buying it so you can take it all in uninterrupted.
An insightful and well-written review.
